Maurizio Fraziano

Prof. Maurizio Fraziano was born at Rome on November 5 th , 1962; (1986-1995) Employed at the Italian Ministry of Finance; (academic year 1990-91) Degree in Biological Sciences at the University of Rome “La Sapienza”; (1995) PhD student at the Laboratory of General Pathology, Department of Biology, University of Rome “Tor Vergata”; (1995) fellow at the Department of Oncology of the “St. George’s Hospital Medical School”, London (Scientific Director: Prof. AG Dalgleish), in collaboration with the Department of Immunology “Royal Postgraduate Medical School, Hammersmith Hospital&amp”, London (Scientific Director: Prof. Lechler RI) – Research Project “Allorecognition in HIV infection”; (1996-2001) Transfer from Italian Ministry of Finance to Department of Biology, University of Rome “Tor Vergata”; (2001-2015), Assistant Professor at the Department of Biology, University of Rome “Tor Vergata”; (2015-2023), Associate Professor of Microbiology; (2023-today), Full professor of Microbiology and Immunology; (2018 up today) Coordinator of Bachelor Degree in Biotechnology and President of Teaching Quality Committee of the Department of Biology, University of Rome “Tor Vergata”. Prof. M. Fraziano has been recipient as Principal Investigator of fundings from Italian as well as international institutions and is author of 74 scientific papers, published on important peer reviewed scientific journals, in the field of host-pathogen interaction and host antimicrobial immunity, with an H index of 26 and total citations of 1775. Finally, Prof. M. Fraziano has been authors of 3 patents and recipient of national prizes and awards obtained in the field of third mission. Based on the important scientific results obtained in the context of his academic research, on June 7th, 2022, together with several collaborators and colleagues, cofounded the university spin-off BioLT, which received on December 19th, 2023 the prestigious National Prize of Innovation (Premio dei Premi) from the Minister of University.

Giovanni Caron

Born the 20 th January 1964 in Rome, Italy.
After the University degree in Economics and business administration at the University of Rome La Sapienza
he has been working in private companies as manager and consultant.
He has a wide experience in administration, finance and control and has also been working as general
manager in the health care industry.
He is now consultant in business administration and business planning and control, contract professor of
Economics and Applied economics at the University of Rome Tor Vergata and external lecturer of Planning
and control in the Medea Master for the Enrico Mattei School of ENI.

Giovanbattista Leproux

Born in Terni in March 1952.
After graduating in Medicine from the University Alma Mater of Bologna he got specialization in Clinical Pharmacology at University of Pisa.
He started his clinical activity in Ospedale San Salvatore in Pesaro and later in Policlinico Agostino Gemelli in Rome working in cardiology.
After his military service done as Medical Officer of the Italian Navy, he joined the pharmaceutical industry covering medical positions of growing responsibility in Italian, European and American Companies.
His last assignment before retiring in October 2017 was Executive Medical Director of BMS Italy.
During his career he had responsibility of the medical implementation of launches of many important products in cardiology, immunology, virology, hematology and oncology.
From 2018 he is visiting professor at University Tor Vergata Rome teaching Clinical Development and Management in “Master of Science in Biotechnology” master’s degree course.
From June 2022 he is part of  BioLT a spin-off of Tor Vergata University as Head of Clinical development.
He served as member of the Directive in the Italian Society of Pharmacology and he still is in the Board of Sifeit (Società Italiana per gli Sudi di Economia ed Etica sul Farmaco e sugli Interventi Terapeutici)

Noemi Poerio

Born in Rome on August 14th, 1986, Noemi Poerio is a biotechnologist with a Ph.D. in Immunology and Applied Biotechnology. She currently serves as a technologist at the Department of Biology at the University of Rome “Tor Vergata,” boasting extensive experience in the design, refinement, and advancement of innovative liposomal formulations, as well as in microbial immunology, owing 20 scientific publications in this field. Her years of research have endowed her with the necessary expertise for the conceptualization, development, and scientific validation of new liposomal formulations aimed at combating multidrug-resistant bacterial infections. She is a founding partner of the innovative start-up BioLT, where she holds the role of senior researcher.

Tommaso Olimpieri

Born in Rome on 6th November 1996. Graduated cum laude in “Master of Science in Biotechnology” master’s degree course at the University of Rome “Tor Vergata” in 2020. Winner of a postgraduate scholarship “Generation and optimization of new liposome-base vaccines” in the “Immunity and Infection” lab at the University or Rome “Tor Vergata” (2020-2021). Currently PhD student in MIMIT (Microbiology, Immunology, Infectious Diseases and Transplants) teaching course at the Medicine dept of the University of Rome “Tor Vergata”.

In his formation years he learned how to safely handle class-2 human pathogens and how to design experimental plans for the validation of antimicrobials efficacy. He also successfully succeeded in mastering several liposome-generation techniques and he also acquired competence in the operation of several analytical instruments such as HPLC, spectrofluorimeters, cytofluorimeters, and confocal microscopes.
He is a co-founder of BioLT and works as a junior researcher for the spin-off, but also nurtures the spin-off visual identity.
